The Essex candle is inspired by glamourous celebrations with friends a glass of bubbles in hand. Scented with Champagne and Pomelo with effervescent notes of sparkling Champagne blended with citrus fruits, sweet grapefruit, Brazilian orange, and pink pomelo. This luxurious fragrance is blended with enlivened hints of rhubarb and fresh watermelon.

This Home County Candle is hand poured, made from 200g of 100% natural, biodegradable soy wax. The wooden crackle wick produces a luxury wider flame which enables a larger fragrance throw. The wick has a subtle crackle sound which is heard best when in a quiet environment, creating your own mini woodfire in a room whilst relaxing. The vegan friendly candle has a burn time of 45–50 hours.

The elegant candle comes in a glass vessel with a modern stylish branded label, compete with the county title ‘The Essex’ written in golden text across the middle. The candle is packaged in a brown giftbox with a white sleeve featuring a stunning illustration which represents the fragrance ‘Champagne and Pomelo’.

To care for your candle follow these steps;

1. Light your wick from its base, closet to the wax, ensuring the full wick is alight.
2. Burn your candle for 3-4 hours on first burn. To get maximum use out of your candle, ensure the wax pool reaches the edge of the glass on the first burn.
3. Trim your wick to 4mm before each burn. Maintaining a trimmed wick ensures optimum flame height.
4. Keep your candle out of draughts, which decrease burn time, cause uneven burning and reduce scent throw.

Couple Hannah and Oli Goundry started making candles from their kitchen in Tring, Hertfordshire in 2018.

When deciding on which fragrances to choose for their candles they started thinking about meaningful quotes and emotional connections. When driving from one county into another they began to appreciate that there were always unique differences and an ambience to match. Combined with the fact that the couple often teased each other about the county they grew up in having ‘County Rivalry’, this then developed into the fragrance names they use today. Bringing stories and aromas of the most beautiful British Counties to life through unique, nostalgic, and heartfelt scents that evoke precious memories of both home and holidays!

Throwing themselves into research and speaking to locals about their ‘scent stories’ they have been able to create a range of unique fragrances to transport you back to a moment and place in time representing each truly unique county.
